Saturday's at the Coffee Bar

This place is so wonderful and well designed. I head over to Coffee Bar often - even though I live in a totally different part of town. The open, industrial style architecture, free wi-fi, low maintenance staff and clientele, and random location all contribute to this. Only snapped a few shots - wish I had more of the chandeliers, sitting area, etc. Here is a link to their yelp review with many more photos.

A few obscure observations - the pic behind the counter is of the bus yard up the block, they serve the best bowl of oatmeal in the city, and people set up shop and hang out there all day for the wi-fi and atmosphere. Also, I believe the chef from Circolo (across the street) comes in a few nights a month and does a fixed meal while someone usually spins beats.

Tre chic.

Bathroom Mirror

Love it. Found this mirror in the bathroom at a restaurant on Union Street. Love the restored wood, love the Lake Tahoe reference. Wondering where/who made it. I want one!!

Guess it's time to buy a table saw and go steal some signs from up north ;)

P.S. I look really scary in this photo. Remind me never to go out with out a nose and with long hair. Oh wait - check - chopped off the hair last week - and when I'm not too busy chasing it, I'm pretty sure I still have a nose on this face somewhere. Alright, clearly time for me to sign off and post. O.O. - Old LA

On my last biz trip to LA walked through a building to get to where I was going - and came across these artifacts in the hall. How beautiful... Can't you just imagine detectives from the Black Dalhia making calls back to the paper with breaking news in these little rooms. Or debonair gentlemen with trench coats and scarfs, smoking cigars?

I hope craftsmanship doesn't go out the window completely in our time. Reasonable for it to be redefined - and there is some beautiful, modern design today. I just hope we don't completely detour from natural materials and classic lines.

O.O. San Francisco Alley

Something about the day after rain when all the edges look like they've been drawn over with a blunt pencil... Today I love the color gray. Especially when contrasted with a bright blue sky.

Software Bug Photo Art

We may be taking in a rescue kitten - and the other day in one of her rare moments of actually staying still - I used my iPhone to take a picture and a strange software bug produced these two photos - both of which were taken very close up to the kitten, and somehow resulted in wide angle shots.

Geometry is a wonderful thing to observe, especially in the places you pass by everyday.
